Symphony of Faith and Truth with Justice

The catechetical initiatives of Deepagam as directed by Salesians of Chennai Province are:

1. To assist in the spiritual animation of the province.
2. To evolve initiatives in catechizing the Catholic target group, for and with whom we work.
3. To plan and execute holistic strategies for Evangelization.
4. To enhance the ministry of Catechesis done through Catechism classes in our schools, institutions and parishes.

The pastoral initiatives by Deepagam following the above Province-level catechetical directives are:

1. Strengthen the faith of the Christian communities by fostering religious education and by building up vibrant faith-communities, accepting and respecting the multi-cultural and religious context we are living in and at the same time responding to religious fundamentalism.
2. Form people-centered Christian communities of whose faith is strengthened by religious education and deep spiritual experiences.
3. Promotion of family catechesis by frequent home visits and youth and family animation.
4. Creating or enhancing the SCCs (BCC) and making the people, in particular the youth, active partners in the life and mission of the local Church, thus moving towards participatory and people-centered and meaningful sacramental celebrations.
5. Creating a forum for inter-religious dialogue in all our centers.
