A Center to Promote Catholic Faith and Christian Values

DEEPAGAM is the Don Bosco Catechetical Centre for Catholic faith and Christian value formation - the animating body of the Salesians of the Chennai Province in the field of Evangelization and Catechesis. The mission of Deepagam is “To Share the Light”.

 

Our Vision

We strive,

1. To promote deeper knowledge and commitment to Jesus Christ and His teachings centring on the Kingdom of God. Through our faith sharing we make our young people as agents to establish the Kingdom of God.
2. To educate the non-Christians especially the young to imbibe Gospel values towards their integral development. We empower them to become agents of social transformation.

 

Our Inspiration

We draw our inspiration for all our evangelization and catechetical activities from:

• Jesus Christ – Our Lord and Saviour
• St. Paul – Apostle of Evangelization
• St. Thomas – Apostle of India
• St. Don Bosco – Apostle of the Young

 

Our Objectives

Our plan of action and objectives are:

1. To assist every house in the province in their initiatives towards evangelization and catechesis.
2. To evolve initiatives in catechizing the Catholic faithful for and with whom we work.
3. To plan and execute holistic strategies for evangelization and catechesis.
4. To enhance the ministry of catechesis done through catechism classes in our institutions, schools and parishes.
5. To enhance the value education process in our schools and institutions.

Our approach is to carry out our mission with immense respect for persons and their culture, inspired by a genuine love and interest in their integral growth and maturity.
