Deepagam – the Don Bosco Catechetical Center of Salesian Chennai Province (INM) organized impromptu “Biblical Short-film Festival” at Kilpauk, Chennai on June 8, 2024.

Four short-films from Tirupattur and Bagalore (Tirupattur region), Vyasarpadi, and Basin Bridge (Chennai region) are selected for screening and appraisal. Fr. Raj Kumar SDB (Secretary, Don Bosco College-Kilpauk) is the chief guest for the day; and film reviewers are Savarimuthu (Film Director, Perambur), Saravanan (Asst. Director, Perambur), David Rajan (Videographer, Perambur), and Pazhani (Videographer, Kilpauk).

Fr. Jesudoss, (Director-Deepagam) welcomed the guests and gave opening message in which he emphasized the need for catechizing with movies as we are in the Era of Digital Media. Tirupattur (theme: “Eye for an Eye, Tooth for a Tooth”) bagged first prize, while Vyasarpadi (theme: “Parable of Prodigal Son”) got second, and Basin Bridge (theme: “Ten Commandments”) received third prize. Rev. Fr. Adaikalarasa (Arulvakku.com), Trichy sponsored the Film Festival program.

This is the first humble beginning for the catechetical initiative in the field of “Movie Catechesis” from the Salesian Catechetical Center. Hoping for the next year of greater participation from the Salesian institutions, houses and parishes.
