Vellore-Gandhi Nagar, 6 August 2026: Deepagam – Don Bosco Centre for Faith and Value Education conducted a school animation programme for the students and teachers of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Gandhi Nagar. The sessions were led by the Deepagam team consisting of Rev. Fr. Jesudoss, SDB, Mrs. Pauline Rose and Mr. Joseph Bernard. Students from Classes VI to XII participated in the programme.

The first session, “How to Build a Strong Self,” helped the students reflect on their identity, strengths and personal growth. They were encouraged to accept themselves, recognise their abilities, develop positive habits and make responsible choices that contribute to building a strong character.

The students also participated in an energetic dance session based on the song “Uppu Kaaram, Pulippu Maavu, Oliyaai Vaazha Azhaippu!” The activity communicated the call to become the salt, light and yeast of the world and encouraged them to be a positive and transforming presence in their families, school and society.

Another meaningful dance session was based on the song “Aandavaraam Kadavul,” resonating with the Magnificat of Mother Mary. Through the song and movement, the students were encouraged to recognise God’s goodness and remain grateful to Him in every circumstance of life.

The session “How to Be a Good Friend” helped the students reflect on the qualities and responsibilities of genuine friendship. They were encouraged to become trustworthy, respectful, caring and supportive friends and to understand the influence friendships can have on their habits, choices and character.

Rev. Fr. Jesudoss, SDB, conducted a special session for the teachers on Salesian Accompaniment. He highlighted the important role of teachers in being present to young people, listening to them, understanding their struggles and accompanying them with patience, care and loving-kindness in the spirit of Don Bosco.

The teachers also participated in a group discussion on the challenges faced by students today and explored practical ways of strengthening accompaniment and teacher–student relationships within the school.

The programme combined reflection, values, music, dance and active participation, encouraging the students to grow in self-awareness, gratitude and friendship while inviting the teachers to renew their commitment to accompany the young in the Salesian spirit.
