Catholic prayers are expressions of faith, worship, and devotion to God and the saints. They range from ancient prayers like the Our Father and the Hail Mary to modern ones like the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. Catholic prayers help believers to deepen their relationship with God, to seek His will, to thank Him for His gifts, and to ask for His mercy and protection. Various forms of prayer are presented in the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC 2623-2649). These various forms include: Prayer of Blessing or Adoration; Prayer of Petition; Prayer of Intercession; Prayer of Thanksgiving; Prayer of Praise.
