CHENNAI, March 20, 2026: In a pioneering move that bridges faith and technology, Deepagam hosted an in-person demonstrative counseling and training session on the use of artificial intelligence in catechetics and evangelization. The resource person of the day was Mr. Alochious Dass, IT technical manager, who led staff and lay collaborators through an immersive exploration of AI agents for ministry.

The training program began with a debriefing of Deepagam’s catechetical ministry in three pastoral sectors: schools, parishes, and colleges while presenting the needs and challenges faced in the ministry. The catechetical instructional design was put forth as a felt need by the trainees, wherein the use of AI can be complementary.

Mr. Alochious began his interactive engagement, pointing out the youth trends in AI-powered Internet. Moving beyond YouTube and social media to generative agents for digital content (text, image, audio/video), he too co-affirmed that ‘artificial intelligence can be used for catechetical purposes. '

The common and first-hand notion about AI is that it is a “collection of mathematical formulas. " AI ‘does’ brilliant stuff for the users in and through the most drilled-down personal specifications elicited from the users. However, AI needs to be ‘trained,' in that it needs time and user efforts to get personalized with them.

Mr. Dass demonstrated the productive environment of Anthropic Claude AI to the trainees by generating 'AI Training Model for religious beginners’ with the prompt for phases/levels of learning AI, using Claude. He also highlighted the issues and concerns faced in using such AI assistants.

The resource person said, "Grok (of xAI) can be the most reliable agentic entity for generating catechetical content." He went on demonstrating Presentation AI, DALL-E, and Midjourney for PowerPoint presentations and image and video content generation.

He briefly showcased two web-based software tools for managing Anbium (Parish) subscriptions and stock management tools. The training session’s takeaway was transforming generative AI into a streamlined productive environment that doesn’t preclude the need for human intelligence. Currently, AI agents use Google-style 'prompt and generate results' legacy.

AI can be instrumented with its assistive functionality in developing any kind of website, including catechetical websites, such as Deepagam. As an aside to this story, there is a well-founded effort in evangelization using AI (for example, Magisterium AI).

Alochious Dass is a seasoned technical manager at a leading IT firm with 14+ years of hands-on software development experience.
