DON BOSCO POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE-THIRUKAZHUKUNDRAM, March 26, 2025: SALT-LIGHT Core Team members came together for the Fourth Core Group Meeting in preparation of the Club Action Manual (CAM) at Don Bosco Polytechnic College, Thirukazhukundram on March 26, 2025 14:00 PM – 5:30 PM (IST).
The fourth core group meeting was called-forth by Fr. Jesudoss, Director-Deepagam to discuss on LIGHT Club Action Manual (CAM). The first draft of the manual was submitted for discussion by Mrs. Pauline Rose. The meeting was attended by Fr. C.M. Varghese, Fr. Mariasoosai, Fr. John Christy, Fr. Jesudoss, Mr. Devanesan, Mrs. Pauline Rose, and James VM.
During the interface, the Club's Vision, Mission and Objectives were defined, reviewed and refined. LIGHT Club Structure and the Formation of the Members were deliberated; The training of trainees through YEAST Animation Program - an HEI program for SALT-LIGHT Animators and formation of young people in higher education institutions were discussed at length.
The First Draft of the CAM featured LIGHT Club Student Faith Formation Framework that was segmented into tripartite (1) Faith, (2) Personal and (3) Social Formations. The identity formation progressively grows in a three-year period based on Don Bosco’s Preventive System of REASON, RELIGION and LOVING-KINDNESS within the academic engagement. Scientific tools will be utilized for self-growth, interpersonal relationship and life-skill development. The draft document charts the social formation with social responsibility, environmental consciousness and honest citizenship.
Among the many salient resolutions, Compulsory Spiritual Direction for Club members and devotion to Blessed Mother Mary, Catechetical Content Sources, Acts of Mercy as Faith-in-Action according to the signs of the times, were reiterated during the meeting unanimously by the participants. It was also proposed to define an accreditation framework for Salesian Institutional Identity for higher education in the INM Province.
Practical risks and challenges and implementation issues were also brainstormed during the meeting.
Strong emphasis was placed on the Christ-centered approach in faith formation through which, young people are called-forth to be transformed into disciples of Jesus Christ in today’s context.
